LONDON POLICE ARREST THREE FOR TRAFFICKING METHAMPHETAMINE

LONDON KY—London Police conducted a traffic stop on Tuesday at 2 a.m. on KY-192. During the traffic stop, two were arrested for trafficking drugs, which through investigation, led to a third arrest.

Sgt. Ryan Jackson, K-9 Ofc. Jacob Bormann, Ofc. Patrick Nunley conducted the traffic stop on George Couch, Jr., 37, of London and Jason W. Burkhart, 35, of East Bernstadt, KY.

  • George Couch, Jr. was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, failure to wear a seat belt, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia.
  • Jason W. Burkhart was arrested and charged with public intoxication of a controlled substance excluding alcohol, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.
  • Following the traffic stop, a search warrant was obtained and a search was conducted at 5536 A Slate Lick Road, the residence of Robert J. Loren, 63, of London. At the residence methamphetamine, two pistols, a long shotgun, drug paraphernalia, and pills were discovered.

    Approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine was seized in all. Sgt. Ryan Jackson arrested Loren and he was charged with first-degree trafficking in methamphetamine.

  • All arrested were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
