UPDATE - Photos added / County wide drug roundup Tuesday morning in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root ,deputies, and detectives along with the Sheriff's Office  Special Response Unit (S.R.U.), and the sheriff's Office K-9  conducted a county wide drug roundup "Operation November to Remember" early Tuesday morning November 21, 2017  seeking 30 individuals on drug trafficking and possession charges throughout Laurel County. 

Four (4) teams of sheriff’s deputies and other officers, armed with arrest warrants based on undercover investigations conducted by Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Jason Back and Detective James Sizemore arrested 18 suspects charging various Illegal Drug Trafficking and Possession offenses, and lodged them in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

In addition, 5 other wanted persons were  arrested on other outstanding charges. A total of 23 persons were arrested.

These arrests were the result of a 3 month undercover investigation conducted by the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.

Laurel County Jailer Jamie Mosley provided 2 prisoner transport vans and detention officers to assist with the large number of persons to be arrested and transported to the detention center.

Those suspects arrested are identified as:

  1. Janet Sue Abrams Baker age 40 of McWhorter Street London charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
  2. Adam Roark age 52 of London charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – oxycodone and crystal methamphetamine
  3. Tammy Creech age 51 Of Barbourville Rd., London charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense and conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – oxycodone and crystal methamphetamine
  4. Angela Spurlock age 50 Of Spring St., London charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree- first offense – hydrocodone
  5. Delbert Joe Beets age 52 of London charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – hydrocodone and crystal methamphetamine
  6. Tommy Gray age 48 of Hopper Creek Rd., London charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance – first offense – methamphetamine
  7. Roy Allen age 45 of  London charged with trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 feet of school and trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – hydrocodone
  8. Michael Todd Campbell age 42 of Laurel River Rd., London charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance – first offense and possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
  9. Ruth Williams age 62 of London charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – crystal methamphetamine
  10. Glenda Grubb age 35 of Lily charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense and unlawful distribution of a meth precursor – first offense – hydrocodone pills, oxycodone pills, clonazepam pills, pseudoephedrine pills and crystal methamphetamine
  11. Randall Ward age 54 Of Barbourville Rd., London charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance – first offense and trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – hydrocodone and crystal methamphetamine
  12. Ashley Mills age 29 of London charged with conspiracy to traffic in the controlled substance – first offense – crystal methamphetamine
  13. Troy Baker age 53 of London charged with conspiracy to traffic in the controlled substance – first offense – hydrocodone
  14. Larry Miller age 59 Of Todd Rd., London charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – hydrocodone
  15. Wesley Sizemore age 39 of Roy Black Rd., London charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – crystal methamphetamine
  16. Ronnie Wagers age 60 of Hopper Creek Rd., London charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense and trafficking in a controlled substance– first offense – oxycodone and valium
  17. Debra Wagers 55 of Hopper Creek, London charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – hydrocodone; also this subject was charged on a Laurel circuit court bench warrant charging failure to appear in court regarding habitual truant
  18. Alex Smallwood age 38 of London charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance – first offense

Also arrested and found with outstanding warrants of arrest or other arrests as deputies conducted their roundup of drug suspects were the following individuals wanted on other charges:

  1. Bryan Robinson age 37 of  Fire Station Rd., London charged on a Laurel District Court warrant of arrest charging escape – second-degree – this subject was serving home incarceration and removed his bracelet
  2. Susan Taylor age 36 of  Barbourville Rd., London charged on a Knox District Court bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on charges of theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting under $500
  3. Albert Earl Abner, Jr. age 47 of Hopper Creek Rd., London charged on a Kentucky parole Board parole violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision and failure to report to parole officer as directed regarding a conviction in Laurel circuit court on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of a meth precursor, and unlawful distribution of a meth precursor; in addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel circuit court bench warrant of arrest charging probation violation regarding flagrant nonsupport
  4. Jessica Conder age 35 of Taylor Subdivision Rd., London charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of public intoxication – controlled substances
  5. Deseray Rogers age 20 of London charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court

Assisting in the arrests today were: 4 teams of officers headed by Sheriff John Root comprised of: Laurel Sheriff's detectives, deputies ,bailiffs, CSO's, Laurel Sheriff's Office Special Response Unit led by Major Rodney Van Zant, Laurel County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Grigsby and his K-9 dog "Edge",  and Laurel County Detention Officers, U.S. Marshal Service London Office, the sheriff's office SRU medic and  HIDTA.

Arrests will be continuing.

When campaigning for Sheriff seven years ago, John Root promised the voters that he would wage war on the drug dealers of Laurel County. He has kept that promise.

Today's roundup of drug dealers continues to show Sheriff John Root's level of commitment to continue this pledge. His office has the full cooperation of Laurel County Attorney Jodi Albright and Laurel Commonwealth Attorney Jackie Steele as the Laurel County Sheriff's Office and Laurel county's prosecutors work side-by-side to eradicate the drugs which destroy the future of this county.

A total of 23 persons were arrested today. More arrests will occur as suspects are located.

Sheriff John  Root stated that he wanted today's arrests of area drug traffickers to reemphasize his promise  that his office will be continuing to fight the "War on Drugs" as he promised citizens that he would.
