KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Jackson County



MCKEE, Ky. (November 20, 2017) –The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is investigating a fatal collision that occurred around 4:00 pm on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the intersection of KY-587 and KY-3445 in Jackson County.

The initial investigation indicates a 2013 Nissan passenger car, operated by a juvenile female was making a left turn onto KY-587, and struck a 2002 GMC Yukon, operated by Matachia Creech, 47 years old of McKee, that was travelling south.

As a result of the collision between the two vehicles, the GMC Yukon overturned multiple times.

Matachia Creech was fatally injured after being ejected from her vehicle during the collision, and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner. The juvenile female was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The ongoing investigation ongoing by KSP Post 7 Trooper Ethan Lakes. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County EMS and the Jackson County Coroner.
