Two arrests - One attempted murder charge - Social Services called / Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Detective Kyle Gray arrested Shane Anders age 35 of Days Rd., London on Friday morning October 21, 2016 at approximately 8:17 AM.

The arrest occurred off Days road, approximately 8 miles east of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a female subject had awakened to find an oxygen cord wrapped around her father's neck at the residence there.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation they learned that a female subject there was a caregiver for her father who has medical health issues and other disabilities and a home healthcare worker who regularly is assigned to visit her father observed an oxygen cord wrapped around her father's neck and had to use scissors to cut the cord that was tied in knots.

Allegedly, the male subjects son-in-law ,who also lives in the residence, had told his wife to pour Clorox down her dad's throat to take care of the problem. In addition, deputies learned that the son-in-law had allegedly shot up meth and made several threats toward his father-in-law. Also deputies learned that the son-in-law had choked his wife the day before.

A 10 month old child was allegedly in the residence during the earlier altercation and the attempted murder.

Detective Gray charged Shane Anders with attempted murder – domestic violence; two counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree; assault – fourth degree – domestic violence; and public intoxication – controlled substances. Shane Anders was also charged on an outstanding Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on numerous traffic violations.

Also deputies arrested Crystal Anders age 32 of Days Rd, London on an unrelated outstanding Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on charges of reckless driving; theft by unlawful taking; and other traffic violations.

Social services placed the baby with other relatives Deputies assisting on the investigation and arrests included Lieut. Greg Poynter, Sgt. Brett Reeves, and Deputy John Inman.
