SUSPECT ARRESTED IN ONGOING MURDER INVESTIGATION OF JOSHUA L. DOOLEY FROM MT. VERNON KENTUCKY

LIVINGSTON, KY - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that KSP Post 11, London has arrested a suspect in the Sunday, April 28, 2024 shooting death of a Mt. Vernon, KY man.

On Sunday, April 28, 2024 at approximately 5:25 PM, Kentucky State Police, London Post was notified by Rockcastle County 911 of a welfare check on Goochland Cave Road in Rockcastle County.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified as Joshua L. Dooley, 43, of Mount Vernon, KY.

KSP troopers arrested Clayton Duane Cox, age 49 of Mt. Vernon, KY on Monday, April 29, 2024.

Clayton D. Cox was charged with:

  • Murder
  • Tampering with physical evidence

This individual was lodged in the Rockcastle County Detention Center.

Kentucky State Police Conducts Murder Investigation in Rockcastle County

LIVINGSTON, KY – (April 29, 2024) – On Sunday, April 28, 2024 at approximately 5:25 PM, Kentucky State Police, London Post was notified by Rockcastle County 911 of a welfare check on Goochland Cave Road in Rockcastle County.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as Joshua L. Dooley, 43, of Mount Vernon, Ky.  Mr. Dooley was pronounced deceased by the Rockcastle County Coroner.  Mr. Dooley has been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

As a result of the investigation, KSP Detectives are currently attempting to locate a person of interest, Clayton D. Cox (left), 49, of Mount Vernon, Ky.

Please do not attempt to approach Mr. Cox. KSP believes him to be armed and dangerous.
